Comic Seasons – The Pull – 12-9-15

newwalkingdead149The year is almost up and its getting close to that time to discuss what your favorite comics of 2015 were. Here are my favorite comic books of 2014. In a year that included Trillium, Trees, Superior Foes of Spider-Man, Lazarus, and the criminally underrated Avengers A.I., 2014 was utterly fantastic. 2015 is no exception either.

Sure, we have had both major publishers reboot their respective universes this year (though Marvel’s Secret Wars is still ongoing), but that seems to be the norm these days. Hell, Marvel has even mentioned that it is going to treat their titles in more of a TV format, with seasons instead of long ongoing series.

And that brings me to my main point, I’m not sure I like Marvel’s new ideology of treating its comic book lines as seasons. If this means we get 6-12 issues before a creative reboot, I’m not sure how long I would stay on board. But who knows, you may get some really awesome short arcs from great creators, but at the same time you may be completely jarred each time you see your favorite character or series completely change directions.

We’ll just have to take a wait and see approach to this. As for now, though, here are the titles that I plan on picking up and would recommend to anyone this week:

Rebels #9

Batman #47

Batman TMNT #1

Back to the Future #3

Trees #13

Walking Dead #149

Amazing Spider-Man #4

Secret Wars #8

Star Wars Annual #1

That’s it for now. Only a little more time before The Force Awakens!
