The Pull – 12-10-14
Wow, the year is almost up already which makes me wonder what my favorite comic books of the year were. Surely, Superior Foes of Spider-Man, Trees, Outcast, and Injustice are all up there. But there is so much more! Look for my top books of 2014 sometime soon. Until then, here is what I plan on picking up this week:
TMNT #41
Sex Criminals #9
Walking Dead #135
Amazing Spider-Man #11
Avengers and X-Men Axis #7
Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1
Uncanny X-Men Annual #1
Oh the annuals are among us. At $5 a pop, these one-shots better be worth it. Every year I spend my hard earned cash on these bigger books and it’s always a toss-up as to whether they are worthwhile or not. Still, I end up buying them, so call me a sucker.
What am I most excited to read this week, though? Well, seeing as how I am pretty unimpressed with Spider-Verse and Axis, I have to count them out. Sure, they are entertaining, but I just feel like both Marvel and the creators on these books have missed the mark. Axis in particular is pretty bad. And Dan Slott, there is just something missing from Spider-Verse that makes the whole plot feel kind of hollow. I guess I’m just not too big a fan of Morlund and his family.
TMNT, Sex Criminals, and The Walking Dead, however, are books that are right on the mark. I can’t wait to sit down and read these bad boys.
