The Pull – 9-4-13

jun130242Another week, another pull:

The Star Wars #1

Batman 23.1

DC Universe vs. The Masters of the Universe #1

Trillium #2

Satellite Sam #3

Avengers A.I. #3

Infinity #2

Superior Foes of Spider-Man #3

Superior Spider-Man #17

X-Men Battle of the Atom #1

This is a good size pull for me and I am really excited for a few of them. We get to see the kickoff of DC’s villains month with the core story of each book taking a break in leu of one-shot villain stories. It’s a good break in the action and is sure to drain the money out of some bank accounts. One thing that I am not sold on is Forever Evil. I really don’t think I am going to get in on this. I chose not to follow Trinity War because I found JLA hard to read. I had to give that book up, so the proposition of picking up Forever Evil is not appealing to me. I’ll bide my time and wait on that one. As far as books I do plan on reading, here are my thoughts:

First off, Trillium was an amazing comic. The art was fantastic as was the story. I am glad that it is a mini-series as we get to have a conclusion in a matter of months. I think this is going to be first on my read list.

Moving on to another acclaimed series (acclaimed by me!) is Satellite Sam. I really love this book. From the art to the story, just about everything about it is great. As I mentioned before, if I had to level a complaint, it would have to be the fact that the dialogue balloons (for lack of a better term in this instance) can be a little confusing. Figuring out who is saying what is a little harder than it should be. Nonetheless, it is a great series that I am excited to read.

Another book vying for my coveted “read first” position is Superior Foes of Spider-Man, which has not been anything short of great. This is a book that is not ashamed of riding on the coat tails of Hawkeye, and that is actually a great thing. The execution is what matters. The book just works. If you aren’t reading this, now is a good time to start so pick up issues one and two right now.

Our other Superior book is also coming out this week. I don’t know about you, but I am a fan of bi-monthly titles. Superior Spider-Man has been a sure bet for me. If a week’s books are looking weak, sure enough, I can count on Superior to bring things back up.

Finally, here is something that seems like pure fun, DC Universe vs. Masters of the Universe. If this isn’t something that tugs on my child of the 80’s heart strings, then I don’t know what can. He-Man vs. Batman? There really isn’t more you can say than “YEP”.  Also, The Star Wars. Good week, folks.
